SWAHA Hindu College Students Excel in CAPE and CSEC Exams

Students of Swaha Hindu College excelled once again, placing in the top ten in the CAPE and CSEC exams. Here they reveal some of the reasons for their success and their hopes for the future.

Anjanie Bigram, CSEC Accounts (9th Place)

What are your hopes for the future?

After completing CAPE examinations, I would like to pursue tertiary education in the field of Business so I can become a teacher.

Jessica Joseph, CAPE Economics (8th place)

What is a typical day for you when you were studying?

Typically, most of my day was spent at school. After school, I would usually study for at least three hours each day after completing homework. I would study basically two subjects in this time and I would focus on the topics that I did not understand.

Darshan Balroop, CSEC Industrial Technology Electrical (3rd Place)

What role did your temple and involvement in religious activities play in your achievement?

Attending temple definitely helped me with concentration. I was also highly motivated when I attended mandir and as a result, I was more all rounded as an individual. So, with no hesitation, I can say that taking part in temple activities assisted me greatly in my success.

Vidal Ramdass, CSEC Social Studies (7th Place)

How does one excel?

  • You must have a positive mindset from the beginning and even after you finish the exam.
  • Examine the subject’s syllabus online and ensure that you have mastered all of the objectives.
  • After you have learnt the theory of the entire subject or specific topics, do plenty of past papers and practice expression skills.
  • Arrange past papers according to related topics.
  • Make connections with all of your topics and understand their relationships.
  • When studying, my aim is to explain the topic to myself just as a teacher would to someone who doesn’t know the subject. In this way, it enhances my own understanding of the subject.
