Shivrani Shines at ACCA Exams

A daughter of Swaha, Shivrani Prabhudial’s light shines yet again with her recent achievements in the A.C.C.A. (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) 2018 examinations. As a student of the Students’ Accountancy Centre (S.A.C.), Shivrani placed first worldwide in two of her final year papers – first in ACCA AAA – Advanced Audit and Assurance paper in the September 2018 examinations and ACCA AFM – Advanced Financial Management paper in Dec 2018 exams. She also placed first in the Caribbean in Paper P1 – Governance, Risk and Ethics in March 2018 as well as F5 – Performance Management and paper F6 – Taxation in the December 2016 exams.

The ACCA qualification is recognised worldwide as a premier accountancy qualification. In congratulating her, the S.A.C. noted that she “was always a model student who demonstrated industry, determination, perseverance and commitment” in her studies. A President’s Medal and Open Business scholarship winner, Shivrani’s achievements also include eight distinctions at CAPE level and at CSEC.

The daughter of Ramdial and Lautee Prabhudial, Shivrani has been an active member of Gyaan Deepak Kirtan Mandali since she was a child.  In an interview about her achievements, she explained that her Guru, Paramacharya Pundit Hardeo Persad, played a significant role in her life and achievements. “I am truly blessed with some good karma,” she stated, “to have such an esteemed spiritual leader as my Guru. His continuous guidance, encouragement and blessings contributed tremendously to my success. He was always there in my challenging moments as well as in my successful times. But his guidance amid challenging times stands out in my memory more than ever. He gave me the strength to go forward when I wanted to give up. He always insisted that I keep focused with a positive attitude and not to doubt myself, which I did at times. He is indeed my pillar of strength and chief source of motivation. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Guruji.”

What has motivated her? Shivrani reveals, “I can safely say Guruji’s motivational words to me contributed greatly to whatever success came my way. Success motivates me although my aim was not to place first but rather to keep focused and just to do my best.”

Her words of advice for other students and today’s youth: “Keep focused despite the many distractions around. Self-effort and determination are needed, after all there is no gain without pain. In trying times, rely on the guidance from support systems that are always there: Guru, family, place of worship and, of course, the Divine, God.  Challenges are for everyone but our support systems help a lot to make life successful.”

How important is the spiritual aspect of life for her? Shivrani considers it to be extremely important to her. She views it as an essential aspect of life: “I have been a member of the Swaha Gyaan Deepak Kirtan Mandali since childhood and I see temple as a must. The valuable lessons I have learnt on spiritual and moral growth from both Guruji and Pundit Dr. Umesh Persad have helped me to face up to life’s challenges and to grow as an individual. They emphasize the importance and value of God in all spheres of life to which I can testify.”

Swaha salutes this gifted yet humble daughter who continues to make us proud. May you continue to reflect the light and knowledge of Devi Maa.
