Release: Soja Soja (Lullabye) for Swaha Vishok Bhavan (Children’s Home)

Swaha Vishok Bhavan wishes to announce the release of the song Soja Soja, a lullabye composed by Pt. Umesh Persad to raise awareness of the Home. The song is also being released in anticipation of Krishna Janam Ashtami which is coming up in August. The song is donationware, which means that it is free to download and share in return for your consideration in making a contribution to the home. You can play and download the song below:

About Swaha Vishok Bhavan

At SWAHA Vishok Bhavan (Home that is free of worry) there are presently twelve children between the ages of 2 to 13. The home is situated at 196 Mohess Road in Penal. It was originally intended to be a Home for Girls, but the policy has been adapted to include boys if they are part of a family of girls accepted into the Home. Presently there are two boys. The staff includes six caregivers and a supervisor.

The aim is to provide a sanctuary for girls who are victims of abandonment, abuse and severely dysfunctional families. We strive to provide a loving and safe environment that will educate and nurture in a holistic manner – thus enabling them to eventually fit into society and aid in restoring their faith in humanity. 10 of the children attend school. There is also a volunteer programme aimed at developing skills and exposing them to the arts.

The Home is not funded by Government but is dependent on donations of well wishers as well as fund-raising efforts by the SWAHA Social Services Committee. Expenses include monthly salaries for staff, utility bills, food, other living expenses of residents and maintenance of the Home.
