Swaha Release: Feud at the Dow Village Hindu Temple

Swaha wishes to express our sadness and disappointment on the recent turn of events at the Dow Village Hindu Temple in California. We believe that the behavior displayed by members of our Hindu community is unwarranted, especially as it took place within Temple grounds. It is a sad reflection on the current state of our society if we cannot respect our most sacred places of worship. This behavior not only brings embarrassment and shame to all Hindus, but it creates a negative perception in the eyes of our national community. Despite the differences between opposing sides, alternative non-confrontational ways of resolving conflicts must be sought. Contemporary Hindu leaders must carefully think before acting, as the plan of action employed is as important as the final result. In a time when such leaders continue to disappoint and ignore the core philosophies which they are trying to protect, Swaha calls for a halt in thoughtless action and a return to good judgment guided by our Holy Scriptures.

  1. Shivanand Vinodh Pancham says: -

Throughout Trinidad and in so many parts of the country, the concept of temple grabbing by these such organizations and power hungry individuals have left many empty and disfunctional structures. The Hindu community over the years have been dis advantaged by this. In addition to this the hard work of many Senior Hindu people in this country to build these establishments went in vain as all left now are empty shells with branch numbers on them. Fortunately, the determination and resiliance that Hindus have displayed in Trinidad have given birth to new organizations locally and internationally and events like these justify the sacrifice for these new endeavors.
